The Taliban have announced the start of the land distribution process for returnees in Jawzjan.

Taliban officials have said that the process of distributing land to returnees in Jawzjan has begun.

Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Taliban’s deputy prime minister, said today (Thursday, May 24) at the inauguration ceremony of a settlement for refugees that housing numbers will be distributed to 1,537 families in the settlement.

According to Hanafi, 2,000 acres of land have been allocated for returnees in Jawzjan. Hamdullah Nomani, the Taliban’s acting minister of urban development and housing, said that in addition to residential houses, service facilities, including a school, a seminary, a hospital and well-equipped clinics, will also be built in the settlement.

The Taliban had previously announced the start of the land distribution process for returnee families in Kunduz and Balkh provinces. This is while most people in the northern provinces are concerned about the Taliban moving Pashtuns across the border into the northern provinces under the pretext of refugee displacement.
