The Taliban have destroyed a Shiite mosque in Kabul

The Taliban have destroyed a Shiite mosque in Kabul, displaced families and given their homes to their relatives.

Local sources in Kabul report that the Taliban group continues to pressure and discriminatory policies against religious minorities, especially Shiites.

According to these sources, the Taliban recently destroyed a Shiite mosque in the Senatorim area of Kabul and forced several Shiite families to migrate.

According to sources who spoke to the media on Wednesday, August 6, the process of destroying the mosque, which is located on the Attorney General’s Road, began two days ago.

The Taliban have claimed that the mosque was built on government land, but local residents say they have legal documents and their houses were built decades ago.

According to sources, at least five families out of about 40 living in the area have been forced to leave their homes.

In a move that has drawn serious criticism, the Taliban’s justice minister – who lives in the area – has reportedly handed over the vacated houses to his relatives after evicting the local residents.

The incident is seen as the latest example of targeted attacks on religious minorities in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.

There have been previous reports that the Taliban have forcibly evicted Hazara and Shia families from their homes in the northern parts of the country and given their properties to people close to the group.

Human rights activists and international organizations have repeatedly warned about the Taliban’s discriminatory policies against minorities. But there has been no change in their practices.
