The Taliban imposed stricter regulations on dress and behavior at wedding ceremonies.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Encouraging Good and Preventing Evil has imposed new restrictions on how wedding ceremonies can be held in Kabul.

According to the letter from the Kabul Wedding Halls Association, the orders were issued verbally by the ministry and include a ban on mixing men and women, dancing between the bride and groom or guests, live music, DJs, filming and photography at ceremonies.

The order also states that women should not wear makeup and must wear “appropriate” clothing. Hall employees are also required to adhere to Islamic dress. The Halls Association has warned that any violation of these regulations will be prosecuted.

The decision comes at a time when the country’s economic situation has been described as dire, and according to some hall owners, the new restrictions have affected a decline in customers and business stagnation.

Since returning to power, the Taliban have issued dozens of restrictive decrees in cultural and social areas, especially against women and family relations.

The Taliban’s well-known Minister of Public Affairs had previously said that their goal was to cleanse society of the cultural relics of the previous era.
