Ahmadi: The Taliban’s arrest of women is the worst kind of religious and human atrocity.
Mohammad Amin Ahmadi, an Islamic scholar, religious researcher, and former member of the negotiating team with the Taliban, has strongly condemned the arrest of women and girls by the group’s Amr-e-Ma’ruf agents, calling it “the worst kind of religious and human atrocity.”
On Tuesday, July 21, he wrote in a Facebook post that the Taliban’s Amr-e-Ma’ruf administration is trampling on the collective dignity and pride of the people with these actions.
Ahmadi also emphasized that the Taliban’s treatment of women is unprecedented in Afghanistan in more than a century.
This reaction comes at a time when Taliban insurgents have recently arrested dozens of women and girls from different areas of Kabul on charges of “not wearing the hijab.” These arrests have been met with widespread reactions both inside and outside the country
