The UN Security Council to decide on reimposing sanctions on Iran.

The UN Security Council will decide on Friday on the reimposition of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which would be imposed if the trigger mechanism is activated, the AFP news agency reported.

The mechanism is defined within the framework of the nuclear deal and Security Council Resolution 2231 and allows for the reinstatement of UN sanctions.

At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron announced in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 that the “trigger mechanism” sanctions against Iran would be activated by the end of September.

He added that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had tried to present a reasonable proposal, but that the proposal did not gain the necessary support within the Iranian government and was merely political promises without practical action.

Iranian officials have threatened to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and cancel Tehran’s recent agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency if the trigger mechanism is activated.

This situation could escalate the Iranian nuclear crisis and increase international pressure on Tehran.
