Local sources in Baghlan province say a Taliban official in the province has been accused of stealing part of the sacrificial meat distributed by a charity.
According to the sources, Massoor Mansouri, the Taliban governor of Banu Darreh-e-Andarab district, kept 70 garlic cloves of beef that was supposed to be distributed among needy families and distributed another part among his relatives.
The meat was the result of the sacrifice of 17 cows by a Turkish charity foundation, whose goal was to distribute it among about 600 needy families in the village of Faj.
Local sources claim that no action has been taken by the Taliban to follow up on the allegation; While the group publicly punishes ordinary citizens in similar cases.
There have been reports of Taliban officials abusing humanitarian aid; This has raised concerns about structural corruption in the Taliban regime in the face of widespread poverty and public need in Afghanistan.
