Torture instead of education; Kabul schools have become torture chambers for students

Kabul – EL Media: While education should be a haven for growth and awareness, many schools in Kabul today have become torture chambers that are wearing out the souls of students.

Local sources told Il-Media that the educational environment in the capital’s schools has become extremely militarized, oppressive, and inhumane.

A clear example of this crisis is the Haji Abdul Qadir Shahid High School in the Makrorian area of Kabul, where a math teacher uses an electric shock device to punish students who forget their books.

The source says that the math teacher at the school has given electric shocks to the majority of the students in the class, and this unjustifiable behavior has caused the students to collectively hate school and their studies.

Many of them are no longer willing to return to school, even despite their parents’ insistence.

After the fall of the republican government and the Taliban’s dominance, systematic attention to schools decreased and more religious schools were built instead.

The Taliban-controlled education system has not only failed to provide knowledge, but is also purposefully trying to lead the new generation towards ignorance; men devoid of literacy and awareness, but full of complexes and anger.

Meanwhile, a video from an educational course in Kabul recently went viral, showing a teacher severely beating a student in front of other students.

The release of this video sparked a wave of angry reactions among Afghan users on social media, once again revealing the harsh and regressive face of the current education system.
