Trump: The Taliban Are Trying to Flatter the United States
U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, during the sidelines of the G7 Leaders’ Summit in France, once again criticized the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, calling it one of the “worst decisions” made by the previous U.S. administration.
Trump claimed that the Taliban are attempting to gain Washington’s favor by “flattering” the United States and are seeking to improve their relations with the U.S. He criticized what he described as the Taliban’s recent approach toward Washington but did not provide further details.
The U.S. president also reiterated the possibility of recovering military equipment left behind in Afghanistan, emphasizing that Washington continues to pursue the issue of military assets remaining in the country following the withdrawal of U.S. forces.
Trump has repeatedly called for the return of the equipment in previous public statements.
