Turkish Ambassador: Economic relations are the center of cooperation with Afghanistan.

Emphasizing the historical ties between the two countries, the Turkish ambassador in Kabul announced that Ankara has a special focus on developing economic and trade cooperation with Afghanistan.

He said that economic relations in the current situation can serve as the main pillar of cooperation and provide the basis for expanding bilateral interactions.

Turkish Ambassador Cenk Onal noted that his country is one of the few states that has kept its embassy in Kabul open after the developments of 2021 and the Taliban coming to power.

He added: “Turkey and Afghanistan have deep-rooted relations, and strengthening these ties in the field of economy and investment is of fundamental importance to both us and the Afghan people.”

While the Turkish ambassador emphasized the importance of the presence of Turkish businessmen in Afghanistan and increasing economic exchanges, many other countries consider sustainable relations with the Taliban conditional on the formation of an inclusive government.

However, Ankara, with a pragmatic approach, is trying to play a constructive role in the stability and development of Afghanistan, in addition to pursuing economic interests.
