Turkish and Uzbek leaders emphasize solidarity and a just global order.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the summit of the Turkic States Organization that the organization is no longer just a cultural alliance, but has become a platform for strategic and security cooperation among its members.
Referring to global tensions, he added that member countries are more affected than others due to their geographical proximity to crisis-hit areas. Erdogan said: “Precautionary measures should be taken wherever there is danger.”
The Turkish president emphasized that members of the organization will cooperate in various fields, including information exchange, border security and cyberspace, and added that the trend of increasing defense spending in the world is also pushing Turkic countries to strengthen their security capabilities.
On the other hand, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for the creation of a “just global order” at the summit.
Warning of the negative impact of protracted wars, he said that conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine and other parts of Eurasia threaten the security of countries in the region.
Mirziyoyev also pointed to the lack of consensus among major powers on international issues, saying that this gap was also evident at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
