Turkmenistan Sends Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake Victims in Northern Afghanistan
The government of Turkmenistan has delivered a consignment of humanitarian aid valued at 34 million Afghanis to earthquake victims in northern Afghanistan.
The press office of Balkh province stated that the shipment included 68 items, comprising food, medical, construction, and clothing supplies, and was handed over to Taliban authorities through the Aqina border crossing.
Mawlawi Noorulhadi Abu Adris, Deputy Governor of Balkh for the Taliban, thanked the government of Turkmenistan during the handover ceremony, calling the aid a symbol of good neighborly relations and brotherhood between the two countries.
He emphasized that humanitarian cooperation can serve as a foundation for strengthening future political and economic ties.
The Turkmen Consul General in Mazar-i-Sharif also highlighted the historical and cultural ties shared by the two nations and affirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to supporting the Afghan people.
He added that Turkmenistan, as in the past, will stand alongside Afghanistan and continue its aid efforts.
At the same time, reports from northern Afghanistan indicate that the aid distribution has not been entirely equitable, and the Taliban have reportedly treated recipients based on ethnic and linguistic lines.
