Two fires in Kabul and Daikundi; Taliban accused of failing to contain the crisis.
Two separate fire incidents occurred in Afghanistan today (Thursday, 25 September 2025).
The first fire broke out this morning in a fuel tank in Nili city, the capital of Daikundi province, injuring two people. The condition of one of the injured is reported to be serious and the exact cause of the incident is still unknown.
The second incident occurred this afternoon in Kabul, in a carpentry shop in the Qala Kashif area of District 5. The Taliban have confirmed that the fire caused financial damage of about 8.4 million Afghanis.
Despite the presence of firefighting teams, it is said that the delay in containing the fire caused the fire to spread and cause heavy damage.
Local sources and some witnesses say that the weakness of the equipment and the slowness of the Taliban forces in dealing with the incidents were the main factors in the increase in the amount of damage.
Although authorities have reported the rescue of property worth 15 million Afghanis, criticism of the lack of safety measures and poor management in controlling such incidents continues.
