Wedding in Laghman turns bloody.
A wedding in Mehtarlam, the provincial capital of Laghman, turned violent on Thursday evening (September 4), leaving one man dead.
The Taliban’s Laghman security command confirmed that tension between guests led to a clash and shooting in the area of Camp Baba, the second district, in the incident. One person, identified as Abbas Jan, died as a result of the incident.
According to local officials, security forces were dispatched to the scene after the clash and an investigation has begun to identify the main perpetrators.
There are still no clear details about how the incident occurred and the people involved, but officials say efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects.
Social experts consider this incident an example of the recurrence of family and social violence in Afghanistan.
They warn that easy access to weapons, the lack of mechanisms for peaceful resolution of tensions, and the tense atmosphere in society are among the main factors for such incidents.
They believe that the continuation of this trend could undermine public confidence in security and highlight the need for preventive measures and cultural development.
