Women of Mazar-e-Sharif Broke the Silence; Education Is Our Right!

At the same time as 8 March 2026, International Women’s Day, courageous women of Balkh carried out a bold action in parts of Mazar-e-Sharif and expressed their opposition to the repression and restrictions imposed on women through protest graffiti.

This action echoed the voice of resistance and dissatisfaction of women in the heart of the city.

Slogans such as “Education Is Our Right” and “We Do Not Accept the Male-Only Rule of Taliban Terrorists” were written on city walls and sent a clear message to society and the Taliban: the women of Afghanistan are not willing to remain silent and will not abandon their rights to education, freedom, and a dignified life.

This courageous action is both a warning and a call to society and the world to support the women of Afghanistan.

The walls of Mazar-e-Sharif now stand as testimony to the resistance and anger of women; a message showing that restrictions, repression, and discrimination cannot destroy women’s determination for the right to education, work, and a free life.
