He had previously been beaten and fired by the Taliban\u2019s head of agriculture. He is now one of hundreds of citizens imprisoned by the Taliban for protesting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Critics say the sentence is a clear example of the Taliban\u2019s policy of \u201csystematic silencing\u201d; a group that uses torture, detention, and intimidation to try to eliminate any dissenting voice from society.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>From arresting journalists for laughing, to imprisoning cultural activists and even shopkeepers who shaved their beards, everything shows that the Taliban government, fearing freedom of expression, has become a full-fledged dictatorship.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Continuing repression of people\u2019s voices in Daikundi; Taliban sentences veterinarian to two years in prison.
