The Taliban held a “beard seminar” at Panjshir University.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Taliban’s information and culture department in Panjshir announced that the group had held a seminar at the university in the province entitled “The Place of the Beard in Islam.” The event was attended by a number of faculty and administrative staff.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abdul Fattah Rahmani, the Taliban’s head of invitation and guidance at Panjshir University, called the beard “one of the Islamic rituals and traditions of the Prophet of Islam.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is not the first time the Taliban have launched such programs. Earlier, in May this year, a similar seminar was held at Faryab University.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the meeting, Taliban officials called shaving a beard “imitation of the enemies of Islam” and even claimed that it was medically harmful.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In conjunction with such seminars, the Taliban have arrested people in many provinces for cutting or shaving their beards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The latest case was reported in Herat; Where a number of money changers and goldsmiths have been arrested for “drawing a beard” or “cutting it” and released on bail.<\/strong><\/p>\n
