Taliban ask Japan to recognize their government.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid expressed hope in an interview with Kyodo News that Japan would also recognize the group’s government.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Criticizing America’s “war” policies, he called on Washington to release frozen Afghan assets to pave the way for improved relations between the two countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mujahid said in the interview that the Taliban are seeking strong relations with the United States and other countries and expect their “legitimacy as an interim government” to be accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In response to international criticism of the ban on girls’ education and women’s work, he called these restrictions an “internal matter” and called on the international community to “not interfere.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

These statements come at a time when the United States, Japan, and most European countries have not yet recognized the Taliban’s rule.<\/strong><\/p>\n
