Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that he met with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Afghanistan\u2019s Hezb-e-Islami, during the latter\u2019s medical visit to Malaysia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a post on the social media platform X, the Malaysian Prime Minister described the meeting as cordial and stated that Hekmatyar was in Malaysia to receive medical treatment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also referred to the encounter as a meeting with \u201can old friend\u201d and noted that various topics were discussed during their conversation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sources close to Hekmatyar previously confirmed that he traveled to Malaysia on December 8, 2025, to pursue medical treatment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0According to these sources, the visit was conducted under diplomatic coordination and upon the formal invitation of the Malaysian Prime Minister, with Hekmatyar\u2019s health condition cited as the main reason for the trip.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prior to this journey, the Taliban had imposed restrictions on Hekmatyar\u2019s movements, preventing him from leaving Afghanistan for several months and limiting his meetings with foreign delegations, including the Malaysian delegation in Kabul.<\/strong><\/p>\n
