Taliban Leader: If I Cannot Implement Islamic Sharia, I Will Step Down.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, said in a recent speech in Kandahar that if he ever feels unable to implement Islamic Sharia in Afghanistan, he will resign from his position.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He described the primary responsibility of the Taliban system as the full implementation of Islamic Sharia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said all laws of the \u201cIslamic Emirate\u201d are drafted and enforced based on Sharia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Referring to certain decrees, he stated that sometimes laws are, in his view, in line with Sharia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, after publication, some people consider them contrary to Sharia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He urged people not to be misled by others\u2019 statements in this regard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He advised them to obtain information from scholars and credible religious sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He also said the system\u2019s structure must be fully Islamic and Sharia-based.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He stated that the Ministry of Justice is responsible for implementing Islamic laws.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These remarks come as the Taliban have consistently presented Islamic Sharia as the core of their system since returning to power.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Taliban leader\u2019s continued emphasis on enforcing Islamic laws has drawn widespread domestic and international criticism.<\/strong><\/p>\n
