Several child laborers in Kabul have claimed that after being detained by the Taliban, they faced mistreatment, violence, and sexual abuse while held in prisons and facilities known as Darul-Hifaz.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the children, the detentions were often justified under the pretext of collecting child laborers or promising aid. They were kept for days in harsh conditions without adequate food or security. These incidents were reported on January 26, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some children said that in Badam Bagh prison in Kabul and other Taliban detention centers, they were subjected to beatings, threats, and humiliating treatment. They also claimed that mandatory religious education focusing on jihad was imposed, and they were urged to join Taliban ranks in the future.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Several children said that after release, they received none of the promised assistance. Human rights activists, expressing concern, say the Taliban are using religious and Darul-Hifaz centers to control, indoctrinate, and sometimes exploit children.<\/strong><\/p>\n
