Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, in his latest remarks, attempted to justify the group\u2019s controversial \u201cregulation.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to critics, this document turns the people of Afghanistan into hostages of a repressive military system and, by institutionalizing modern slavery, threatens any citizen who shows even the slightest opposition to the Taliban with arrest, imprisonment, and complete elimination.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The regulation legalizes harsh punishments, severe restrictions, and total surveillance over people\u2019s lives, and labels protest or free expression of opinion as \u201crebellion.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an interview with Deutsche Welle, Mujahid claimed that the law was drafted \u201cto prevent others from misusing Islam\u201d and asserted that no one has the right to abandon their religion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In practice, however, field reports from Badakhshan and other provinces show that the Taliban have forced Ismailis and members of other groups to change their religious beliefs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This action clearly violates freedom of belief and demonstrates that Taliban laws are not about religion but are tools of repression and the imposition of violence.<\/strong><\/p>\n
