Local sources say Taliban officials, by appointing the Pashtun commander Maulavi Abdul Basir Mazhari as the new security commander of Badakhshan, have not respected the local Tajik Taliban in their own homeland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His introduction ceremony was held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, without the presence of local Taliban and residents, indicating a complete disregard for the power and historical role of local Taliban.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Badakhshan, one of the Tajik-majority provinces of northern Afghanistan, has always been a scene of tension between Pashtun and local Taliban.<\/strong><\/p>\n
