Controversial Taliban Statement; Announcing “Support” for Iran if the U.S. Attacks.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban government, made a provocative statement regarding a potential U.S. attack on Iran, saying that if Tehran requests assistance, “Afghans are ready to provide sympathy and support to the extent of their capacity.”

In an interview with Radio Iran, he defended Iran’s stance, emphasizing that the country is “justified” and capable of defending itself.

These comments come amid rising tensions between Tehran and Washington over the past weeks.

Mujahid went further, referencing Iran’s prior conflict with Israel, claiming that Tehran emerged “victorious” in that war, and if the U.S. enters a military confrontation, the outcome would be no different.

He stressed that the Taliban do not seek war, but in the event of an attack, Iran would likely emerge as the victor. While the statement emphasized avoiding conflict, observers view it as a clear political signal regarding the Taliban’s perspective on the regional balance of power.

These remarks coincide with explicit warnings from former U.S. President Donald Trump about potential military action against Iran. Reuters, citing U.S. officials, reported that the American military is preparing for possible scenarios.

Despite the tense atmosphere, the Taliban have framed their stance with terms such as “sympathy” and “support to the extent of capability,” which analysts interpret as a diplomatic effort to signal political backing without directly engaging in a confrontation.
