Fear in Bibi Mahru; Families Say the Taliban Have Issued Warnings.
Local sources in Kabul say the Taliban have ordered residents of part of the Bibi Mahru area to evacuate their homes.
According to these sources, the warning covers approximately 207 residential houses in the area stretching from behind Waziri Akbar Khan Hill to near the Kabul Air Blocks.
Residents say the Taliban have issued formal notices and have given families until 25 March 2026 (corresponding to 5 Hamal 1405 in the Solar Hijri calendar) to leave their homes.
According to local inhabitants, most families living in the area are long-time residents of Kabul, and a significant number of them are ethnic Tajiks.
The Taliban have cited road construction as the reason for the move; however, some residents say they fear the action is intended to alter the ethnic composition of the neighbourhood.
Sources say many families are unwilling to disclose their identities due to fear of the Taliban and have been warned against protesting or bringing the matter to the media.
Residents of the area have called on media outlets and civil society organisations to amplify their voices and help prevent the demolition of their homes.
