Sources: Second Senior Taliban Commander in Badakhshan Reportedly Becomes Dissatisfied After Fateh.
Local sources in Badakhshan claim that Mawlavi Mahboobullah Hamid, a senior Taliban commander and the group’s deputy governor in Ghor Province, has become the second prominent Taliban figure from Badakhshan, after Juma Khan Fateh, to express dissatisfaction with the policies and management style of the Taliban’s central leadership.
According to the sources, Hamid has not been present at his official post for about one month and is currently staying in Jurm District, his hometown in Badakhshan. During this period, he has reportedly held meetings and consultations with influential local figures and supporters.
The sources claim that Hamid’s dissatisfaction is linked to disagreements over Taliban leadership policies and what they describe as the concentration of power within the group’s central circle.
They further claim that Hamid is attempting to strengthen his influence and organize supporters around him, while considering taking independent positions against decisions made by the Taliban leadership.
The Taliban has not yet commented on these reports.
The claims come amid growing local tensions and reports of internal disagreements among Taliban members in Badakhshan in recent months. Analysts believe that increasing divisions between local commanders and the central leadership could affect the province’s political and security situation.
