Armed Kuchis in Bamyan Claim They Are Acting Under Taliban Leader’s Orders.
Local sources in Bamyan Province say that a group of armed Kuchis entered grazing areas belonging to several villages in Punjab District and faced opposition from local residents.
According to sources, the Kuchis claimed that their presence in the area was not unauthorized and that they were acting based on orders from Taliban Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and the Taliban Ministry of Borders, Tribes and Tribal Affairs.
Sources say the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 (3 Saratan 1405), when the armed Kuchis entered the villages of Qalacha Kerman, Karol, Pai Kotol Jamali, and Surkh Nawkar Dola in Punjab District.
Reports indicate that they released around 25 herds into grazing areas used by local residents, creating tensions between the two sides.
Sources further claim that during protests by residents, the Kuchis said they had permission from the Taliban leadership to use grazing lands in Hazara areas, describing the lands as “state-owned and belonging to the government.”
Taliban officials have not yet issued an official response regarding the incident.
