Journalists Arrested in Kabul Over Ashura Coverage.

The Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) says the Taliban arrested a female journalist and several of her colleagues in Kabul for covering Ashura ceremonies.

According to AMSO, the journalists were taken to a security center and detained for several hours before being released the same day following mediation by media officials and family members.

The organization said the female journalist was reportedly detained for being accompanied by a male cameraman who was not a relative.

AMSO expressed concern over increasing restrictions on journalists, saying such actions limit freedom of expression and access to information.

The organization warned that preventing media coverage of religious and cultural events, including Ashura ceremonies, could further restrict professional journalism in Afghanistan.
