Taliban Commander Joins Fateh’s Forces in Badakhshan.
Sources close to Juma Khan Fateh say Qari Ghafar Jurmi, a Taliban commander and son-in-law of Qari Wasil, has left the Taliban ranks with 35 of his fighters and joined Fateh’s forces in the Darwaz area of Badakhshan.
According to the sources, the move comes amid growing internal divisions among Taliban commanders in Badakhshan.
Qari Wasil is described by the sources as an influential Taliban figure and deputy commander of the group’s military division in Badakhshan.
The sources claim that Qari Ghafar’s defection could strengthen Fateh’s forces in the region and represents another sign of increasing internal disagreements within the Taliban.
The Taliban has not commented on the report.
