Former Afghan Army Officer Shot Dead in Daikundi.
Local sources in Daikundi Province say Yaser Behzad Hosseini, a former Afghan Army officer, was killed in a gun attack on the evening of Friday, June 19, 2026 in Shahristan District.
According to the sources, motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire near the district headquarters before fleeing the scene.
No group has claimed responsibility, and the Taliban have not commented on the incident.
The killing is the second reported death of a former Afghan security officer within a week, further raising concerns over the safety of former government personnel despite the Taliban’s declared general amnesty.
