Sources say that the Internet reconnection in Afghanistan was carried out on the orders of the Taliban Prime Minister in Kabul; an action that is described as contradictory to the order of the group’s leader, Haibatullah Akhundzada in Kandahar.

According to observers, this decision could be a sign of a difference of opinion and a power gap between the two main axes of the Taliban, namely Kabul and Kandahar.

Daud Naji, head of the political committee of the Afghan Freedom Front, wrote in a note that this event is the first sign of a serious difference in the Taliban structure.

He emphasized that this is the first time that Kabul has ignored Haibatullah’s order and acted against his order.

Naji considered this issue “the first leak in the Taliban’s governance structure” and introduced it as a sign of new challenges in the political management of the group.

These statements are made in a situation where the 48-hour internet shutdown has faced serious problems throughout Afghanistan.

Citizens in various provinces complained of complete disruption of calls and internet access, and many economic, educational and communication activities were suspended for two days.

Service and relief agencies also announced that this communication blackout had severely disrupted the relief process and the coordination of their operations.

For this reason, the reconnection of the internet is considered not only a technical measure, but also a significant event from a political point of view.
