The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, marking the anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet forces, issued a firm statement declaring that the struggle for “justice and freedom” has not ceased and will continue.

The Front described 15 February as a “symbol of the people’s victory of will,” emphasizing that the experience of war against the Soviet Army demonstrated that no foreign or domestic power can withstand the collective will of the Afghan people.

In the statement, the current situation in Afghanistan was sharply criticized, with claims that the country once again faces serious security threats and the presence of extremist groups. The Front warned that the continuation of this situation endangers national stability and regional security, adding that silence in the face of these developments would carry heavy consequences.

Concluding in a resolute tone, the National Resistance Front reaffirmed its commitment to achieving an “independent, democratic, and justice-based Afghanistan,” stressing that the people’s will to determine their own destiny is “non-negotiable.”

The withdrawal of Soviet forces on 15 February 1989, after nearly a decade of military presence, remains one of the most significant turning points in Afghanistan’s contemporary history—an event the Front considers an inspiration for its present struggle.
