Taliban Leader Orders Formation of 8,000-Member Secret Force.
Sources within the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense say that the formation of an 8,000-member secret military unit known as the “Hebti Unit” has begun under direct orders from Taliban Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.
The sources claim the unit will operate as a special force directly linked to the Taliban leader, with its main missions including securing the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, fighting ISIS-Khorasan, and preventing the group’s fighters from entering Afghanistan.
According to the sources, the force will operate outside the Taliban’s regular security structure and receive direct orders from Akhundzada. They also claim that Russia is providing training, equipment, and financial support for the unit, although no official confirmation has been made.
The sources say 4,000 members of the force have already been deployed to an undisclosed location in Kandahar, while another 4,000 are undergoing recruitment and training in Kabul.
