Local sources say Taliban officials, including the provincial governor, the Taliban mining chief, and a heavily armed “black-clad unit,” have arrived in Khahan District of Badakhshan amid rising tensions.

Sources claim the deployment is linked to a disarmament operation targeting local residents and miners. They say Taliban forces have seized more than 70 weapons from villagers and miners in Awiz, Payan Mor, and Abganda areas.

The move has increased security concerns in the province as tensions continue to grow.

The deployment comes shortly after Taliban Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid visited Badakhshan. While the Taliban said his visit focused on border security in Wakhan, Ishkashim, and Shighnan, local sources claim it was mainly aimed at controlling internal tensions.
