Armed Infiltration from Badakhshan into Tajikistan Leaves Four Attackers Dead.
Tajik media have reported that four members of a terrorist group who crossed into Tajikistan from the village of Darbandak in Khwahan district of Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province were killed in a clash with Tajik border forces.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 18 January 2026.
According to published information, the group’s location was identified shortly after they entered Tajik territory, and border forces moved to arrest them.
However, the armed individuals ignored calls to surrender and opened fire, prompting an armed confrontation during which all four were killed.
Tajik border authorities stated that a quantity of military equipment was seized at the scene of the clash.
Officials emphasized that border security remains fully under control and that any armed infiltration or hostile action will be met with legal force.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions, following the earlier killing of two Tajik border guards in cross-border gunfire from Afghan territory.
