Khalid Hanafi: Public insults do not hinder the work of the Ministry of Encouraging Virtue and Preventing Vice.
Khalid Hanafi, the Taliban’s Minister of Encouraging Virtue and Preventing Vice, says that the Ministry’s officials must tolerate even public insults and insults and not stop carrying out the Taliban’s orders.
“Suppose all the people of Afghanistan insult you from morning to evening, you still have to continue your work,” he said at a meeting in Doab district of Nuristan on Sunday (August 24).
The Ministry is accused by citizens of violating individual freedoms and human rights. Its officials have repeatedly detained women and girls for their clothing, and men for shaving their beards and wearing Western clothing.
Taliban laws in the Ministry require women to cover their bodies completely and impose extensive restrictions on people’s daily lives; a move that has drawn serious domestic and international criticism.
