Following reports of moral corruption among Taliban officials, local sources in Nangarhar province reported that the leader of the group has been accused of “sexual assault.”
Local sources told the media on Saturday, that the victim of the incident was a teenager named Zaidullah, who was introduced to the Taliban’s leadership office by his family for “religious reform.”
According to these sources, the Taliban leader not only abused the family’s trust, but also illegally arrested Zaidullah and took him to his private home at night. There, he was accused of sexually assaulting the teenager.
Expressing anger and frustration over the incident, Zaidullah’s family has called for judicial investigation and justice. They have emphasized that their goal in introducing Zaidullah was religious guidance and education, but according to them, “the Taliban leader has committed injustice and must be held accountable.”
This is not the first time that Taliban officials, especially those in the Amr-e-Maruf, have faced similar allegations. Over the past three years, reports of moral violations, including rape and sexual abuse, have been published in various provinces of Afghanistan.
In one such case, a video of the head of the Taliban Amr-e-Maruf in Herat having sex with a young girl was recently circulated on social media, sparking widespread reactions.
