Ghor – Local sources have reported that a number of Taliban soldiers in Ghor province, after their positions were reduced, refused to leave duty and protested the recent decision.
Following this reaction, the Taliban security command in Ghor has issued an official letter to all military units ordering that those subject to organizational downsizing or those introduced to “active reserve” remain in their previous positions until further orders.
After reducing foreign financial assistance, especially the cessation of US support, the Taliban have decided to reduce the organization of civilian and military departments by 20 percent.
According to published documents, nearly 90,000 positions have been eliminated from the Ministry of Education alone, and other ministries are also facing extensive reductions.
With the temporary suspension of this program in Ghor, it seems that the dissatisfaction of the military body will be a serious challenge to the full implementation of this decision in other provinces as well.
