The Taliban cut off the female journalist again.
The Taliban-controlled national television censored the voice of a female journalist during a live broadcast of a press conference by the group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid.
The conference was held today (Tuesday, August 26) at the Taliban government’s media center in Kabul.
While the journalist’s voice was cut off during the national television broadcast, a version of the session posted on the Taliban media center’s YouTube channel shows that her question was recorded in full.
This is not the first time that the Taliban have censored the voices of female journalists during media programs.
In addition to extensive restrictions on women, the Taliban have banned the broadcasting of women’s voices in some provinces.
The group’s law on the promotion of good and the prevention of evil considers a woman’s voice “aurat,” although some private media outlets in Kabul and other cities still employ female journalists.
