Unidentified gunmen kill two residents of Daikundi; local Taliban likely involved in these killings
Local sources in Daikundi have reported the killing of two citizens in the province’s Kiti district.
According to sources, the incident took place last week in the village of Royan.
The victims, named Wahid and Ali Mohammad, were the original residents of the village of Beri in Patu district and had moved to Royan four years ago to work as farmers.
At night, unknown gunmen entered their house, introduced themselves as Taliban agents in Kiti district, and asked the victims to accompany them.
Sources say that after dragging Wahid and Ali Mohammad out of the house, the men first beat them severely and then shot them in the head.
So far, local Taliban officials in Daikundi have not reacted to the incident.
The increase in targeted and mysterious killings across the country since the Taliban took over has raised concerns among citizens.
In many cases, people blame the Taliban for these crimes and believe that the group is trying to attribute such incidents to unknown individuals.
