Juma Khan Fateh Reportedly Claims Taliban Leadership Planned to Assassinate Him.
A Taliban security source says Commander Juma Khan Fateh lost confidence in the group’s leadership after receiving information about an alleged assassination or suicide attack plot against him in Zabul Province.
According to the source, Taliban leaders now view him as a defiant figure following statements he made about the strength and capabilities of his forces after relocating to the Darwaz region.
The source added that several options are under consideration, including efforts to detain or eliminate him without triggering a wider military confrontation, amid concerns that direct action could deepen internal divisions among Taliban forces in Badakhshan.
